THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW

The Rocky Horror Show is a musical with music, lyrics, and book by Richard O'Brien. A humorous tribute to the science fiction and horror B movies of the 1930s through to the early 1960s, the musical tells the story of a newly engaged couple getting caught in a storm and coming to the home of a mad transvestite scientist, Dr. Frank-N-Furter, unveiling his new creation, Rock, a sort of Frankenstein-style monster in the form of an artificially made, fully grown, physically perfect muscle man complete  "with blond hair and a tan". This is a live show, not a screening of the 1975 movie "The Rocky Horror Picture Show".

Rich Heritage of Cedar Rapids Theatre Company is a 501(c)3 nonprofit theatre organization based out of Cedar Rapids, Iowa with a mission to create value and make a difference in the local community by enriching the lives of participants and audience members with quality theatre productions, inspiring children to get involved in all aspects of theatre, and creating awareness and support for community causes.

Found in 2013 by Matt Ford, Rich Heritage of Cedar Rapids Theatre Company is celebrating their 10th anniversary this year! RHCR's 1st show was The Rocky Horror Show performed at the old 3rd Street Live in the heart of NewBo. From there, the theatre branched out to include large and small cast straight plays but found amazing success with its first children's show Disney's Cinderella Jr., performed at the Scottish Rite Temple. RHCR has performed shows in spaces all over Cedar Rapids. They eventually found a home in the basement of an old church on 2nd Ave SE. The 2020 pandemic forced RHCR out of their space and they became a "nomadic theatre" once again. One constant is the first weekend of every December, RHCR Threatre can be found at the Downtown Cedar Rapids Library performing their annual Christmas Cabaret featuring performers from all over the Cedar Valley.
