Jayson Reid | Waves of Hope

Toronto born and Iowa City based self-taught artist Jayson Reid attended the beautiful University of Iowa. Art came upon Jayson when friends brought over art supplies, oh how the paint, music, and wine flowed that night as they painted. With the first splash of color, Jayson knew he had found his life's passion and continues to paint at a prolific pace to this day.

The paintings Jayson creates explores the ethereal dance of bright abstract colors in surreal scenes, layered with sculpted 2-dimensional human figures that evoke powerful imagery for the viewer to interpret. The goal of Jayson's passionate painting is to help people smile, find joy, and to fill their sails with hope. Each canvas provides freedom of the moment seeing beyond to find Peace and Bliss in this world. Jayson believes art has a unique power to move people and grant them a window to explore new concepts and thoughts.

Jayson paints free form with rarely a plan as each piece evolves with each stroke of the brush and layer of color. The paintings naturally emerge from the canvas as their own glorious statements for the world to ponder. While painting, so many new ideas occur leading Jayson to paint at a fevered pace where time and consciousness vanish.
